“I’m Wladimir Klitschko, heavyweight champion of the world – boxing heavyweight champion of the world and I know there are a lot of fans in New Zealand.  I haven’t been there but I’ve heard it’s a beautiful land, beautiful people – hopefully someday I will travel over there and see it personally and I know Joseph Parker is a very talented boxer – coming from your land.  You know what, I think he belongs in the top five, top three maybe with newcomers Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and of course Joseph Parker.  So I wish him all the best and I know he can do it.  He’s very talented, we’ve been sparring here for many days and I wish him good luck with all his achievements in his next fight.  So good luck and hopefully I will see you one day guys right there in New Zealand.  Bye bye now.”

“I’m Jonathan Banks, trainer of the heavyweight champion of the world Wladimir Klitschko.”

How’s sparring with Joseph and what’s your impressions of the young 23 year old?

“Sparring with Klitschko, Wladimir Klitschko sparring with Joseph Parker… young guy 23 years old… very ambitious… Joseph Parker in my opinion he’s very competitive, he’s really skilled, he’s very determined, he has all the skills it takes to become world champion.  I think not only New Zealand but also the whole world should get ready to see Joseph Parker because, ‘Like ready or not, here he comes’.”

So we’ve always had the best up and coming training camps, how does Joe compare to the likes of Anthony Joshua and (WBC World Champion) Deontay Wilder?

“Yes well we always have good up and coming talent in our training camps and Joseph Parker is one of them good up and coming talents.  To compare him to Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua – it’s not really… they all have three different styles, different guys, different styles… but he’s just as talented.  Keep in mind, Deontay Wilder is a bronze medallist and Anthony Joshua is a gold medallist – so if he can just be mentioned in the name of those two, that’s to let you know what kind of level that Joseph’s on already.”
